Tamera Valentine
LMFT, LAC, BSN, RN
EMDR • Couples & Marriage Counseling • Family Therapy • Trauma & Grief
Tamera Valentine—known by most as Tami—is the owner of Valentine Counseling Center and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist serving Colorado’s San Luis Valley. She is also a Licensed Addiction Counselor and Registered Nurse, with a background in school counseling and teaching. These experiences inform her understanding of the connections between emotional health, physical health, relationships, education, and everyday responsibilities.
Tami provides couples and marriage counseling, family therapy, and individual therapy for clients navigating trauma, anxiety, grief and loss, parenting concerns, and major life transitions. She helps couples work through conflict and disconnection, supports families as they navigate difficult patterns, and offers space for individuals carrying painful experiences or adjusting to change.
Her approach includes Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), family systems therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing. She also draws on sandtray, play-based, and expressive approaches when appropriate to a client’s needs. Her style is warm, direct, and practical: helping people feel understood while developing insight and skills they can use beyond the therapy room.
Tami and her husband live in southern Colorado, where they ranch and raise cattle and quarter horses. They have four children and have shared nearly three decades of marriage. Outside of work, she enjoys running, painting, playing the piano, and working in her yard.
Tami believes therapy should connect with the life you are actually living. Helping people find greater peace, stronger relationships, and confidence in their ability to grow continues to inspire her work.

Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Erica helps clients explore connections between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and practice healthier responses to stress and relationships.
