ADDICTION RECOVERY

Substance use often develops for a reason. For many people, alcohol or drugs become a way to cope with stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, emotional pain, or feeling overwhelmed. Over time, what once felt helpful can begin creating new problems in relationships, work, health, and daily life.

At Valentine Counseling Center, we provide counseling for individuals and families affected by substance use and addiction. Our approach is respectful, practical, and focused on understanding the underlying factors that drive use while building healthier ways to cope, heal, and move forward.

Recovery is not one-size-fits-all. Our therapists use evidence-based approaches tailored to each client’s needs, including Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, relapse prevention strategies, family systems work, and support for co-occurring mental health concerns.

We help clients with concerns such as:

  • Alcohol or drug misuse

  • Relapse patterns

  • Cravings and triggers

  • Anxiety, depression, or trauma connected to substance use

  • Shame, guilt, or hopelessness

  • Family conflict related to addiction

  • Codependency and enabling patterns

  • Early recovery adjustment

  • Maintaining long-term recovery

  • Rebuilding trust, structure, and purpose

We offer in-person addiction recovery counseling in the San Luis Valley and secure telehealth counseling across Colorado.

If you are ready to begin—or unsure where to start—we are happy to help connect you with the right therapist.
