TRAUMA THERAPY

Trauma can affect the way you think, feel, relate to others, and move through daily life. It may show up as anxiety, emotional overwhelm, irritability, numbness, grief, difficulty trusting others, painful memories, or feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you.

At Valentine Counseling Center, we provide trauma-informed therapy for adults, teens, and children working through painful experiences, distressing memories, grief, anxiety, relationship wounds, and trauma-related symptoms. Our therapists use evidence-based approaches tailored to each client’s needs, including EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T.) when clinically appropriate.

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a structured therapy approach that helps clients process traumatic or distressing memories so they become less emotionally intense and disruptive over time.

A.R.T., or Accelerated Resolution Therapy, is another evidence-based trauma therapy approach that uses eye movements and guided imagery to help clients reduce the emotional distress connected to painful memories and experiences.

We help clients with concerns such as:

  • Trauma and PTSD symptoms

  • Distressing memories

  • Anxiety and panic

  • Grief and loss

  • Emotional reactivity

  • Numbness or disconnection

  • Relationship trauma

  • Childhood trauma

  • Shame, guilt, or negative self-beliefs

  • Feeling stuck or unable to move forward

We offer in-person trauma therapy in the San Luis Valley and secure telehealth therapy across Colorado.

If you are ready to begin—or unsure where to start—we are happy to help connect you with the right therapist.
